Syndicate Rules 2021

Rules for Shobrooke Park Lake Fishing Syndicate Members January 2021

  1. Your syndicate membership permits you to fish from both the private (North) and public (South) banks. You must have the laminated membership card with you when you come to fish and bring with you a valid Environment Agency License.
  2. This is a daytime only water. You may only walk up to the lake with your equipment once the streetlights over the trading estate have turned off in the morning, and you must return to the car park as these lights turn on in the evening. Night fishing is not permitted.
  3. Micro-barbed hooks only.
  4. Braided mainlines or shock-leaders are permitted only on baiting or marker rods. Minimum of 12lb monofilament line to be used. We enforce these rules for the safety of the fish and the birdlife that use Shobrooke Park as their home.
  5. Baited rigs must not be left unattended. Rig checks may be carried out at the discretion of the bailiffs.
  6. You must not leave fishing rods unattended at any time. We enforce this rule for fish safety, due to the many submerged snags in the lake.
  7. You are expected to carry and use the following fish care equipment; a minimum 42” landing net, a large well-padded unhooking mat and weigh sling. You must carry carp care treatments such as ‘propolis’ and apply where necessary. Fish must not be removed from the water without the use of a retention sling.
  8. Fish retention is permitted only for short periods of time. For instance, whilst you prepare fish care or camera equipment. Keep nets are not permitted.
  9. Anglers are expected to carry and use waders appropriately when fishing the lake.
  10. The dam wall and bridge are out of bounds for the safety of anglers and the public. Fishing is not permitted above the bridge on the North bank, or at the back of the Amphitheatre. Casting from the dam is not permitted in any form. The stone facing is very fragile, unstable and liable to be damaged.
  11. The Boat House on the private bank is out of bounds to anglers without the consent of the management team.
  12. The damage or removal of any bankside vegetation is strictly prohibited without the consent of the management team. The Park is a designed landscape and there are constraints imposed by Natural England.
  13. Bait-boats are not permitted on Shobrooke Park Lake.
  14. Please take all litter away with you. There is a council waste bin in the carpark.
  15. We ask anglers to be aware of both wildlife and dogs when fishing.
  16. All standard rules for the park also apply to anglers and their dogs. Barbeques, swimming, camping overnight are prohibited. Fishers dogs on leads please. See the notice boards for more information.
  17. We ask anglers to be vigilant. Snagged fish or terminal tackle, distressed wildlife or general angling related misconduct should be reported to the management team as soon as possible. Thank you.
  18. Anglers found to be abusing any of these rules will be liable to forfeit their membership without refund. Nigel Burd (07976 555169), Rich Gregory (07557945716) and Jamie Pankhurst  (07809280290) are our bailiffs. Please obey their requests and seek advice or clarification on these rules through them.
